Norman Budworth
 

Died:  Wednesday 13th October 1915

Age: 19 - born in Scunthorpe

Unit: 1st/5th Bn. Lincolnshire Regiment Private 1588. Enlisted in Scunthorpe with Richard Davison, Ernest Hornsby, Daniel Cunningham and Albert Edward Ward. Died at the Hohenzollern Redoubt, Loos, France, on the same day as Daniel Cunningham, Ernest Hornsby, Arthur Newstead and Albert Edward Ward.
All these men are also commemorated on the "Angel" Memorial.

Thomas William Bowden

Died:  2nd February 1917 

Age:  26 – born in Leeds

Unit: REC.Depot Battalion. Machine Gun Corps (Heavy Branch) Private 205724 – formerly 21248 Lincolnshire Regiment.

Enlisted in Scunthorpe – maybe at the same time as Thomas George Harpham, whose service number was 21246.

Wilfred Short

Died: 20th September 1918
Age 19 - born in Ashby, near Scunthorpe on 9th April 1899
Unit 10th Battalion West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales Own) - Private No. 60484
Enlisted in Scunthorpe.
Some of his descriptive letters which have survived and were written to his family from his Training Camp and from the Front are included in the book.

George William Calvert
 
 

Died: 24th October 1914
Age: 31 - born in Holbeach, Lincolnshire in 1883
Unit: 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards - Private 11288. Enlisted in London at the age of 20 years and 4 months.
He was a regular soldier who had come out of the army but was recalled to duty with the British Expeditionary Force on the outbreak of The Great War ...
